Freezing Rain

Trench of Tombs
Deep Behind Enemy Lines

After retunring from the battle, Armin, Lance, Terrel, and Thorin all gathered together to discuss an important issue. It turns out that Draladen had been doing some reconnaissance, and he has found out that Armin's sister Alina may be at the Trench of Tombs, a Sultanate forward line that was the main Northern defense for that region. He would have Dracon the Druid teleport them in to see if he was correct.

Before they departed, the party decided to prepare by crafting more goods. Terrel, anxious to modify his shovel-greatsword, accidentally made the legendary artifact Armageddon.  The rest of the party made either ammo or more weapons (shovels). Once they were ready, they were teleported in.

They appeared at a tree line overlooking a small patrol outside of the trench. Terrel was first to engage, following a tactical takedown on Thorin's behalf. They party advanced their way past the first trench into a field with vehicle wreckage, overlooked by machine guns with spotlights. Armin prayed to Bahamut for strength, rushing in first to battle. The dragon-god gave him strength; a shield that prevented the guns from doing him any harm. He rushed into the fray, killing off soldiers along with Terrel as they both made the push to clear out the trenches. Lance's rifle (with 12 random magic effects) brought forth one of the bodies back to life. However, he also lost the weapon to another plane of existence. With the fight over, the party looked to push forward when they heard a scream.

It was Armin's sister, and she was coming in fast with a plane to pick them up. They all hastily jumped on, leaving amidts the risen forces of those from the Red Eagle.

The Corrupted
A encounter with a strange but deadly foe

After almost setting their new camp on fire, Armin and Lance were called upon by Draladen Shadowfell, who had learned some grave news. It turns out that the crash site of the Red Eagle was already taken over by the Sultanate, and a new foe has engaged them in combat. Draladen asked the two to go with Dracon the Druid to find out what is going on. That is when Armin had a vision.

The encumbering darkness of his vision was almost enough to bring him to his knees. However, he could still see what this was. He saw a god-like knight, who was strangling his sister, demanding the will of the light. That is when the vision ended, so Armin joined Lance and Dracon as they went to the Red Eagle to investigate.

When they reached the site, only four Sultanate soldiers were against a entire horde of lifeless undead. The battle began fierce, as the Sultanate did not notice their Empire adversaries until it was too late. After the horde was defeated and all was left was the party and Sultan Zaran, two other figures appeared. One was a undead covered in boney armor and the other was a floating skeletal wizard, who summoned a amethys crystal which took all of the dead bodies inside it. After a short but tedious fight, the party eventually triumphed, revealing the corpses that were now covered in a dark substance that clang to them. Now, they must return back to Draladen to inform them of the situation.

Session 2: The Elf and the Admiral
Allies in a strange land

We begin with the party, tired after scavenging those materials, resting by their Snow crawler at the evening by a campfire. While Terrel and Thorin were fast asleep, "Lance" went on to search the commander's tent while Armin kept watch. While outside, Armin spotted a tall slim figure on the horizon, who snapped his finger and vanished when the cleric tried to approach him. Soon after, Armin heard gunfire coming from the command center and rushed to his ally. It turns out that the officer had risen from the dead, and "Lance" had to gun him down. meanwhile, the corpse of a flame trooper emerged, setting Armin on fire. The situation seemed dire, until a mysterious Elf, along with their Admiral Jacob Longsworth. They all left the base together, taking the Snow crawler with Thorin and Terrel.

After some time, the party made it back to a base camp, where the elf introduced himself as Draladen Shadowfell. He told the party of Wayfeel Goldleaf and how he put his race and civilization to extinction. The party agreed to help him, as Wayfell was searching for Armin's sister, the next high priestess. Draladen gave the party a tour of the camp, as well as introducing them to two other dragonborn twins, Dracon the Druid and Dracon the Harbinger. The party was left to roam around the camp while Dracon the Druid searched the woods and the Harbinger returned to his work as a smith.  After several things were crafted, and a fire elemental was accidentally summoned, Draladen gathered the party together to inform them of a dire situation.

Session One: Stranded
The beginning of the fight for survival

Our adventure starts with the players Thorin Gurson, Armin Reginold II, Terrel Foyer, and "Lance" all waking up after the crash of their airship, the red eagle. Confused and dazed, the party split up around the half of the crashed airship that wasn't completely on fire. Lance, the surveying spotter they needed, found a Snowcrawler Transport Truck with only a few missing spark plugs. Armin searched around for any weapon he could use, but found a pistol with no ammo. Thorin searched for materials and food, finding several rations and the location of three of the five spark plugs they needed. Meanwhile, Terrel Foyer found an axe, chopped up some wood, and found and killed a bear using only the timber he cut down.

Once the party regrouped, and after they scavenged some rifles and swords from the wreckage, they started thinking of a plan. One thing that Armin noticed was that his sister, the next high priestess who was going to give a speech at a fortified position, was nowhere to be found. When night struck, Armin prayed to Bahamut for guidance, Thorin went to investigate a blood trail that was heading into the forest, and Terrel and Lance decided to head to a vantage point they saw from the wreckage. When Lance and Terrel made it up  to the rock, Lance climbed his way up to see three locations (one to the Southwest, one to the North, and one to the East) had smoke emerging from them. He also noticed the sounds of their enemies voices, the Yusan Sultanate, emerge from the tree line, and combat had begun.

Terrel rushed the newfound enemies, severing the legs off of what seemed to be a basic infantry soldier. The other enemy, the pilot of a plane, shot the barbarian up close with a pistol, almost nicking a vital organ. Hearing the gunshots, Armin rushed to the sounds to see what was going on. The infantry soldier shot Lance, wounding him to extreme measures. However, Lance manage to hide behind a snow pile and take out the pilot while Armin stabbed the soldier in the back of the head.

Meanwhile, while chaos was in the west, Thorin's stubby legs trailed on as the blood trail came to a close, leading to a open cave. As Thorin approached the cave, he could see the mutilated bodies of Empire soldiers, accompanied by a dreaded growling sound coming from the cave. Thorin, understanding the situation he could get himself in, left the cave slowly and began making his way back to the wreckage of the Red Eagle. Meanwhile, a divine voice spoke to Lance. Bahamut, dragon-god of life and war, told the Lance Corporal that he needed to head South, where the fortified position was located. The four, after finding some more spark plugs, got in the snow crawler and headed south.

The journey was only two days, and the party saw the forward position. Strangely silent, Thorin pulled the vehicle to s stop just on top of a hill. Terrel and Armin stayed behind while the other two went in to see what is going. As they got closer, the smell of frozen dead flesh consumed them as they entered the barracks. Someone (something) killed all of the soldiers in the encampment. Having no lead on Armin's sister, the party decided to stop and rest, loading two crates of rations they found onto the Snowcrawler. By the time the fourth night fell, the party was sitting by the campfire and talking about everything they saw.
